Iím in Queens.... All alone sitting in the dark. Well, Iím not really alone. Everyone is sleeping and Iím braced up against the wall checking email whilst trying to type quietly. Originally, we were to play a show in Kinderhook, NY, but something came up and the host could no longer keep the show. So we decided to visit our friend James and spend a day in the city.

Itís been a long friggin day. Departing Hershey, PA. at around 10 AM, we were fed French Toast and had full bellys upon departure. Lagrangeville, NY was our destination. 4 hours of driving seems like a cake walk now. Say that while Iím not touring and itís a living hell.

Entertainment on our drives consist of random screaming, trying to speak Japanese to each other, and eating snacks from the gas stations. We arrived in Lagrangeville at around 3:30 PM. Our host was named Dan and he lived in a remote little area that was surrounded by dirt roads and nature.

He had a huge two bedroom that only cost $800 a month. Itís only a little more than an hour train ride away from NYC and he can afford to live in something bigger than a walk in closet. It reminded me of my old pad in San Jose. A converted attic that gave you tons of room, but only a straight line down the middle to walk upright. Make sense?? Hmmmm... Dan had a very diverse music collection. From Indigo Girls, Violent Femmes, Tori Amos, The Specials, Shawn Colvin, REM, The Misfits, and many more. Itís nice to meet someone with such musical diversity.

The show was an outside BBQ that was in conjunction with his neighbors. It made for an awkward show. Iíd say 80% of the people had no idea who I was and didnít care. Dan played an acoustic set with two of his band members. I think he felt the same way in some regards. People were talking during his set and I could tell he was a bit annoyed as he ended pretty quickly.

Hmmmm... How can I describe the clientele?? A pocketful of punk rockers and then a guy who looks like heíd be on a reality dating show. Big muscles and all with a girl on his side who definitely has no idea who FUGAZI is and Iíd bet money that she loves JAY Z and GWEN STEFANI equally. Oh well. The bbq was good and thatís always a good thing. By 9:00 we were on the road to the city and after getting lost twice, we made it. By the way, getting lost drives me insane. Do you feel my pain. Any unecessary time in the car makes me want to punk holes in the wall. Well, I better go to sleep. Be well.
Peace, mike park
